We are running Paragliding
Holidays and are ideally located close to many fine
flying sites, the main ones in use being Lijar and Ronda. The
largest, Lijar is roughly 1000 metres and it takes around 15
minutes to fly top to bottom! It is a great thermal site and
has good XC potential. The take offs, one on the southern face
and one on the westerly, are large, smooth and gentle having
been reasonably enlarged to cope with the 2001 World Air Games
which were held here in June of that year.
Anyone who is CP and above should
have no difficulty with either the launches or the landing
fields, which are huge! Please be sure to bring the following
with you for maximum safety and enjoyment:
■ BHPA documentation showing Club
Pilot or above
■ Reserve
parachute
■ Radio
(hire available)
■ Vario
(hire available
■ Helmet
■ Adequate
back protection
■ Suitable
boots
■
Appropriate (and approved) glider
■
Repatriation insurance, and European Health Insurance card
(which replaces
the old E111 form)
Fly guiding, thermal tuition and
cross country guidance is provided as required by Baz, whose
immense XC experience will enable adventurous pilots to rack
up the kilometres in the excellent prevailing conditions. And
of course, should you get up and away, Sam's expert retrieve
service is also available to take you back to launch or bring
you back to the village for a cool beer! See
Paragliding courses for further details.
And if you're lucky, you may have
the privilege of flying with the company of one of the most
expert fliers of all - the awesome Griffon Vulture. Even the
most talented of pilots might feel somewhat humbled as he
thermals round and about you!
Whatever your level of
proficiency, you should enjoy your paragliding holiday in Andalucia!
